[Waking up one fine winter morning on a world that was very much not like his own, the last thing Phoenix expected to see was a present on his doorstep. As much as they celebrated their own holidays, it wasn't as if Christmas was much of a thing any more after all.

So seeing some nice warm clothes and possibly what was the nicest new tie he had received in some time Phoenix couldn't help but feel his cheeks turn a light shade of pink.

[In the living room of their shared apartment, there is a large bouquet of alien looking flowers on the table, complete with an ornamental vase with a large blue ribbon attached to it. Besides it is a small carefully wrapped jewelry box with this pocket watch inside of it. And a larger box next to it containing a very sturdy looking pair of boots inside of it. On top of the shoebox lay a bottle of grape juice and a small envelope with Phoenix's name written in a neat cursive script.

Inside is the following letter:]

Dearest Phoenix,

I know that you are not a particularly huge fan of Valentine's day, which is understandable, given that it is a made up holiday in order to foster the consumption of goods to take advantage of a population that feels the need to fulfill some sort of romantic obligation; instead of partaking in caring for their partners every day of the year.

However I digress, there is also something to be said of romanticism for the sake of romanticism and I am aware that you tend towards the sentimental. In any case, please enjoy the flowers (Don't worry. I have no idea what they are nor what they mean either.), the juice as well as the pocket watch as your Valentines day gift. The boots, however, are a belated Christmas present. I hope they fit you well and that you can make good use of them.

I know that things between us are really complicated at the moment. But please know that despite the complications, you are one of the few people who are dearest to me. I am grateful to have you here by my side on this wild adventure. I also hope you can forgive me for my rather cowardly avoidance on such matters, I am trying to do better.

I am unfortunately engaged this evening, however, I would like to take you for brunch if possible. Please let me know if this sounds good to you, I should be around the house, today.
