You're being ridiculous, Wright.
[He gestured for the bartender to bring another drink. At least it would distract him from the attention.]
Not usually. There are generally too many people for my tastes, However, I did visit a few pubs back in Germany.
no subject
[The thought of Miles of all people slumming it around at a German pub brought a smile to his face. How many drinking buddies did he once have out there? How many friends and high profile acquaintances did he manage to acquire in his other life on the other side of the world.
He forgot how mysterious much of Miles's life outside of the office was to him.]
Anyway, if anything I think that gives us all the more reason to do this more. Before we ended up here I don't think we hung out anywhere near as much as I really wanted us to.
[Oh! Was that too presumptuous? Maybe it was because Miles was too busy, or maybe he didn't want to spend all his time outside of work around Phoenix when they spent so much of their working time running into one another?
Great. Now he could feel his own cheeks turning red.]
That is, if you don't mind.
[And with that he turned to look at Miles once more. Sorry, but it's going to take a lot more than that change of subject to get his eyes off you.]
no subject
[Yes let's talk about beer and that will help deflect that gaze maybe.]
Really? I suppose it had been harder to meet up to socialize after I became the chief prosecutor. I think I was just really busy, with only having all of five prosecutors in the district, I had to stay in and work most nights and weekends...
Of course, I don't mind. You act as if I spend time with you unwillingly. Don't be ridiculous, Phoenix.
[Well he tried. All he could do was shift awkwardly.
No. wait.
He wasn't going to back down from this. He was going to stare right back, unblinking. Just like a Von Karma. He was going to win this.
It was a pretty intense stare.]
no subject
[You would have thought that the blank stare would have dissuaded him. But it was what Miles had said that had kept Phoenix hooked. His eyes wide and clear and intent on the silver gaze that met his as if truly fascinated.]
It’s just... I always thought you were simply sticking to me out of obligation. Since we were friends when we were kids and all.
[His voice had taken a softer tone, almost intimate as he scooted a little closer.]
I know we’ve experienced hell and back in the courtroom, but you always made it feel so professional. Like it were merely out of a sense of duty that we worked as well as we had.
[He couldn’t help himself. The next thing he knew he felt himself reaching out, his hand gently lying on top of Miles’s as he continued to hold his gaze.]
Before now we rarely ever spent time like this and, even though it’s entirely different from how things were two decades ago I— I really missed spending time with you. Casual time such as we are now.
no subject
What on earth would make you assume such a thing? I certainly have better things to do than hang around someone out of obligation. Doubly so, considering my lack of free time in my earlier life as a chief prosecutor.
[He finally broke his gaze from Phoenix, to glance at the large warm hand that was now covering his, only to return to those intense blue eyes that looked at him so darned earnestly. He made no effort to move his hand away, but the action made a fluttering feeling in his chest that much more intense.]
I admit, that I missed spending time with you as well. If anything I am grateful for the time we have been spending together as of late. And yes our relationship had certainly evolved greatly over the past two decades.
I am gladdened by it.
[How could he express to the man how very much the other man had meant to him? Phoenix was the catalyst for his revival. The very reason that he was alive now. That he was so very scared that his friend could have perished due to the illness, recently. It was his incredible luck that led to him being here, now.
He had no words to express the depths of what Phoenix had meant to him. He started.]
...You... are my dearest friend Phoenix.
[With his free hand he covered Phoenix's and squeezed it. It was a small gesture but he hoped it would convey more than he could visibly express.]
no subject
[There was something so intense yet so intimate about the sudden moment shared between them. The pressure of Mile's other hand on top of his causing the butterflies in his stomach to flutter frantically. Gulping back as he found himself fixated on the all too serious expression of his best friend.
It was so difficult to look away. Miles was just so beautiful in his intensity.]
You really mean that? Every word?
[It was a desperate grasp at confirmation. His voice shuddering in attempt to hold back the welling emotion in his voice. His body sitting up, scooting closer to Miles as he lifted their hands between them. Cupping his other hand over Miles so that their hands were now fully entwined with one another.
And yet his gaze still refused to break from Miles.]
You really feel so strongly about me? Even after all I've put you through?
[It was no comparison to his own feelings most likely. But this, even this small shared sentiment was something.]
no subject
[Phoenix's hands were large and warm, his fingers squeezed his friends tightly. His chest had tightened with the intensity of Phoenix's gaze.]
I mean, what have you put me through? I'm certain I have put you through worse. It is your sweet selfless nature that had forgiven me for hurting you so deeply. Yet you had never given up on me.
I can never express how very much your friendship had meant to me. You are the person who had (w)righted my path towards the Truth.
Your presence beside me here and now is what continues to propel me forward towards that singular path. I would be utterly lost were you not here!
[The outburst was sudden and his voice was hoarse and full of emotion. With a ferocity that was unexpected even to himself.]
I was so terrified of losing you this past month... That I would awaken and you'd be gone.
[He was shaking from the outburst. Now looking away to hide how his eyes were watering.]
no subject
[This was all too much. There was so much building raw emotion throughout the entire conversation that Phoenix could feel his body shaking with each breath he took. Tears welling up in the corners of his eyes as Miles explained every reason why he felt the way he had. And he— How could he even respond to that?
Miles was the very reason he was who he was. Miles was his inspiration, his driving force. He would not be the person he was today if it hadn’t been for the ex-prosecutor before him. But his mind was too hazed over with both alcohol and emotion to state such things so eloquently. Instead squeezing his hands all the tighter as he looked him firmly in the eyes. Trying to convey all the raw emotion he felt through his gaze before—
He kissed him.
Surely the two of them must have been making quite a scene of themselves in the middle of the bar.]
no subject
Miles couldn't really meet his gaze at first but then relented, His chest squeezed tightly with the intensity of emotion. ]
!!!
[The kiss took him completely off-guard. His eyes widened with the shock of it. His heart was now pounding against his chest. This was the first time anyone had ever kissed him and it was Phoenix of all people who was doing the kissing.
Slowly his eyes closed and he allowed himself to just feel his dearest friend's soft mouth against his. Perhaps it was the alcohol or their emotional conversation. But at this moment it felt good to put down his guard down and allow himself to just feel this.
Awkwardly he attempted to kiss back, his mouth moving sloppily against Phoenix's.
There was something wonderfully pure about this sensation.]
no subject
He was surprised there was any response at all, truthfully. The moment Phoenix’s lips clashed against Miles a barrage of internal screaming aimed towards himself started up.
“Why did you do that!?! How could you do something so stupid!?! Now he’s going to run away and avoid you forever!! Way to make this awkward you spontaneous idiot!!!!”
But this, this was a response. More than a response, Miles was kissing him back.
He could hear his own heart pounding in his ears as he hesitantly began to lead the other man. His lips moving, repeating the actions slowly, building the gesture with a little more confidence and a little more sensuality each time. Until, finally, when just consumed enough with his emotions, did he begin to curiously peak his tongue out, lightly licking along the others lower lip. His own nervous anticipation building as he wondered if Miles would respond in turn.]
no subject
However, his inexperience with such things was rather apparent. Should he open his lips? Should he go on the offensive and press his tongue against the invading appendage? He tried to get out of his own head, and instead decided to go for the attack. Was it just like the courtroom, right? His tongue pressed up against his friend's the sensation of it odd but not terrible. It was a decisive if awkward action, with his whole body leaning forward with the now french kiss.
His fingers unwound against Phoenix, in order to rest on his friend's thighs, mostly in an attempt to hold himself up and to keep him from tumbling forward onto the bar floor. After a few beats he broke away from the kiss in order to catch his breath.]
Mein Gott.
[His eyes were half-lidded and his gaze was piercing. His shoulders were shaking from the intensity of the kiss.]
...Again.
no subject
And then Miles parted from him, and he gave him that hungry look.]
.... Again?
[Phoenix on the other hand was stuck with a bewildered look upon his face. His eyes wide, and a slight blush overtaking his cheeks. Although if it was due to the alcohol or the kiss was anyone’s guess.]
You mean, the kiss? You want to kiss again?
[Wow his palms felt sweaty. Maybe it was a good thing Miles let go of his hands.]
no subject
[The response was direct, demanding even. What on earth could he have thought that he had meant instead? His baritone voice was somehow even lower and huskier than usual. His hands were shaking against Phoenix's thighs. Was this the sort of romantic notions people went on about? Why did a simple kiss make him feel as if his heart was going to burst from his chest? It made him feel as if he was some sort of hormone-addled teen rather than an adult man. He hated it.
His gaze had not broken in the slightest.]
Again.
no subject
[Phoenix could feel his own cheeks growing red with the thought. His eyes wide, lips tingling with the memory of the kiss they had just shared.
He kissed Miles. And Miles wanted to kiss him again. The thought caused his pulse to race as he met the more serious mans gaze.]
Then... again.
[And with that he leaned in, sealing the gap between them. His fingers digging into Miles’s coat as he held onto him. His body leaning into the motion as, this time, he was far more willing and comfortable with the action than he had been seconds before.
If they were going to do this Phoenix didn’t want to hold back. He was going to convey every ounce of emotion he felt towards Miles towards this display of affection.]
no subject
It felt so darned intimate as if all the feelings he was holding towards this man, for the last fifteen years of his life, no perhaps longer than that were being expressed in a way that he could never do in words.
No one would bat an eye at the two middle-aged men who were now deeply making out in the middle of this bar.]
no subject
Phoenix would have questioned it more if he hadn't already experienced such casual displays of affection just a few days prior. But at this point he had grown a little more comfortable, little more accustomed, to giving in to his physical urges.
He continued to kiss Miles back, passionately and heatedly repeating the gesture with a little more fervency each time. And where Miles had found himself stroking his fingers through Phoenix's hair, Phoenix found his arms slipping around Miles's waist. Tugging the taller man closer to him, practically begging to seal the physical distance between their bodies.
He never thought the day would come where he'd actually end up this way with Miles, but for some reason it just felt right.]
no subject
But kissing Phoenix was something he has wanted to do for a very long time and if the ale was needed to let go of some of those pesky inhibitions then so be it.
And there was something deeper a bit more primal that wanted, no needed, more from Phoenix. Panting heavily after the impassioned kiss, he stood up from his seat. His hand moving to clasp the other man's hands once again. His gaze was direct but heavy-lidded. His already baritone voice now with a husky edge.]
Would you perhaps be open to taking this elsewhere?
[Miles Edgeworth was horny. The combination of the blood receding from his brain and moving off to greener pastures as well as the liquor that he had imbibed in had made him a more direct man than he would have been under normal circumstances. Those needs told him that he had to ravish the defense attorney in front of him. And the sooner the better. Miracles did happen.]
no subject
That confusion had lasted until Miles spoke at least. As the moment Miles's voice rung out lowly in response he could have sworn his pulse stopped. There was no way he had heard that correctly... Had he?]
Uh, y-you're sure?
[Ah, wait, there his heartbeat was. How could he have missed that? It was pounding at full force even. Maybe he simply forgot what that fluttering motion was for a second?]
That is, if you really wish to...
[He had to have been hallucinating what he heard. There was no way Miles was implying they'd do the horizontal tango. Maybe he just wanted to step out for a breath of fresh air.]
no subject
I really want to do this with you, Phoenix.
[His fingers entwined with his friend's. His large hands were warm against Phoenix's. Letting go of one of them, he moved to leave a nice tip for the bartender who had graciously hosted them. He then lead Phoenix out of the bar and into the cool night air. He still held his hand, a point of warmth against the chill of the night.
There were a lot of people out and about, drinking kissing and laughing. Miles was in the same sort of mood himself. His eyes darted back to Phoenix, a small shy smile coming across his lips. He squeezed his hand harder.]
no subject
Do this.
Ḋṏ ṮḧḭṠ
DO.
T H I S.]
Ahahahaha r-really?
[Wait. What was happening? Where were they going? Why was Miles leading him? How was it that Miles was able to drag him along so easily? Did he want this?
His eyes looked down. First to the sight of their fingers tangled together, and then to the sight of Mile's hips swaying as he lead Pheonix out of the bar. And then there was that adorable smile. That sweet sort of smile that he had only seen Miles make once in a blue moon. A genuine and happy smile.
Oh.
He wanted this.
He really, really, wanted this. But how was he supposed to go about this? Sure, there was that one incident with Venom a few days ago, but before that he hadn't even so much as thought about going so far with anyone in years.
And now here he was. On his way way once again to some unknown spot with Miles Edgeworth of all people and... He never felt happier truthfully.]
You mean this? You really wish to be with me?
[He couldn't fully comprehend it truthfully.]
no subject
There was so much that he had owed to the man next to him. That he was grateful for. But he was most grateful that Phoenix existed and that he was the kind of person that brought the sunlight onto everything he touched. That he moved and cared so much for others. His sensitivity, his warmth, his kindness.
Phoenix Wright was beautiful.]
Yes.
I
[Only, ever wanted]want to be with you Phoenix. Will you have me?[His grey eyes met his friend's.]
Will you come home and... [He paused and blushed a bit.] Make love to me?
no subject
[Wow. The way Miles turned to look at him right now was utterly breathtaking. Perhaps it was because of the way the light hit him? Or perhaps it was because of that warm sweet expression he was holding. Whatever it was, Miles looked absolutely stunning, and it brought the blood rushing to Phoenix's cheeks.
His body tensed slightly as he squeezed at Miles hand, giving a short nod in response.]
Miles... I would be honored in knowing that you would want me in such a way. The mere fact that you would think that, that is, that you're attracted to me like that I--
[He looked up, his eyes wide and bright, as if they were just at the point of tearing up. But he was smiling a small hopeful smile as he spoke.]
Me too Miles. I wish to do this with you as well. More than anything.
no subject
[He stated rather awkwardly. What was the proper protocol to a decision like this? It wasn't as if he had any frame of reference to this sort of scenario. Thankfully they were fairly close to their temporary residence in Wyver. As they approached, he could hear the blood pumping hard and his heart beating loudly against his chest.]
I...um. Oh goodness. It sounds ridiculous said aloud doesn't it?
[Oh wow, Phoenix was making the expression he did when he was about to cry and Miles could barely help himself. He leaned in and gave him a small kiss. It was unfair that he could muster so many long dormant emotions in him.]
no subject
It was all so nice.]
I don't think so.
[And with that Phoenix remained smiling. Still watching Miles as they walked together side-by-side. His head leaning in as to rest his head against the other mans shoulder.]
I think it sounds wonderful truthfully. Ah--
[He stopped. Not letting go of Miles's hand but parting just enough to stand up straight.]
Looks like we're here, huh?
no subject
[Miles let go of Phoenix's hand after a tight squeeze. He fumbled in his coat pocket for the key. His hands shook slightly as he moved to unlocked the door and made his way inside, the small temporary apartment.
There was something about being indoors and alone with him that made what they were about to do more finalized. He moved a bit of his hair away from his face looking down nervously as he removed his coat and hung it on the rack.]
I have two questions. Er...is there anything that we would need before we begin? And should we do this in the bedroom?
[He had no idea what it was he had intended to do, only that he wanted to do it with Phoenix.]
