Key word on the “tries” though. Even he had his limits occasionally.
Firmly shaking the other mans hand, his grin grrew all the wider.]
It’s understandable. After all, we’re all just starting to adjust to this new world as well as all the new people around us. But I think it’s because of that that we should try all the harder to get along. It’s a big and scary new world so we may as well bond as fellow refugees.
Oh! Maybe we can get drinks or something once everything has settled down a little.
[And already he’s trying to set up hang-out dates.]

[And Venom doesn't expect Phoenix to be so welcoming and friendly right off the bat. Isn't that supposed to be Venom's job? Making sure the new people are welcomed in to their new home?]
Drinks? I certainly appreciate the offer. If you wish, I am a bartender at Shades Darker, in the red light district. You're free to come by whenever is best.
no subject
[And immediately do you manage to capture Phoenix’s interests. He could never turn down a friend who’s willing to serve up a good drink. And how could he when he’s a man of such distinguished tastes in beverages?]
I suppose I know where to set my new nightly hangout. Especially on the nights you’re working.
[Did that sound flirty? He certainly didn’t mean it to.]
Speaking of I suppose I really have to start thinking of means of income huh? Pretty sure my law degree won’t roll over to this new land.
no subject
You're always welcome to come by, and you're very kind to come visit only when I'm working.
[If it is a flirt, it flies over his head because he doesn't think he's anything special.]
I will say it's a good place to start over, or at least put your knowledge to new uses.

[But considering where his past job experience lay, he wasn’t exactly sure where to start.
Should he take up art again? Or should he start off taking on odd jobs and then put his previous experience as a professional poker player to use?
He could feel Miles’s glare from a mile away upon having that thought.
It was a good way to make money but he was almost certain his childhood friend wouldn’t approve.]
You wouldn’t happen to know if they have any open job positions would you?
[He may as well at least ask.]
no subject
[And by models he means escorts. It's not for everyone, but he figures he should mention it.]
Or you could try for the city guard or even the Institute. They specialize in magic and research. Other than that, it's mostly odd jobs from the locals.

[Besides tackling a person once or twice in his life he never once even hurt a fly. And as much as he would like to consider himself an intellectual, Phoenix’s forte specified much more in legal affairs than they ever did with anything science related.]
And at my age and with my physique I very much doubt I’d make much of a good model.
[Although why they would need a model in a bar is beyond him.]
I have had previous service experience, but it was mainly in entertainment.
no subject
[He's not sure what kind of entertainment Nick has under his belt, but he's going to need a job.]
You could be a model, but again, it's not for everyone.
no subject
[He's a thirty-five year old man with a desk job and back problems Venom, please give him a break.]
No most of my entertainment work dealt with things along the lines of playing music and hosting games. I wouldn't think there's a casino or something like that around there, would there be?
no subject
If there is, it would be an underground one. I can ask to see if there's anything like that here.
no subject
[Welp! Time to go back to a life of illegal gambling in the basements of shady bars!
Miles probably was not going to appreciate this.
But hey, a jobs a job right? And they would probably need the money.]
I’d be happy to continue looking around myself as well. Perhaps check out the place you work at.
[Though seriously, he’s good on the modeling. Besides he really doubts they’d even consider hiring him.]
no subject
[Venom thought they wouldn't hire him because of his past, but he managed to land a job with them.]
no subject
[Phoenix couldn’t help but bow deeply in response. His voice doing its best to contain his excitement.]
Ah!
[And then he quickly stood up, blushing slightly in embarrassment to his behavior.]
Ah, what am I doing, we’re currently trying to find my new place and here I am already getting ahead of myself and talking about work.
no subject
[And right when Nick mentions it, Venom looks up. It appears they've found the attorney's new home.]
I believe we've made it.
no subject
[The last time he tried to find work outside of his degree he was barely able to make ends meet! Could you blame him?
None the less he paused as they stopped in front of what appeared to be a small apartment stacked on top of similarly dingy apartment complexes. His expression seeming to drop a little as he looked the door of his new place over.]
So this is it? Really?
[It was about the same size of his apartment back home so it wasn't that bad. But it certainly looked like it had survived more years than his old place.
And how many roommates would he be sharing this place with?]
no subject
[It really doesn't look like much on the outside, but perhaps it's larger on the inside?]
My first house here was similar, but I've since moved into something a bit larger. Perhaps you and your new roommates can do the same.
no subject
[Here’s praying he gets along with them.
What if they were messy people who didn’t keep the bathroom clean?
All right Phoenix, keep calm. You’ll be fine. If anything it means new friends to be made right?
He gulped back, quickly turning around towards Venom and bowing his head.]
Once again thank you so much! Your help means quite a bit. I probably wouldn’t have found this place until midnight otherwise!
no subject
You're quite welcome. I'm sure your roommates will be good to you.
[And if not, Venom's just a message away. Just saying.]
no subject
It really was a pleasure to meet you. And I mean it when I say I’ll consider your advice for work. Even if I don’t get it I’ll be sure to stop by to say hi.
[Really he was just so grateful to have run into someone who was willing to help him this much. Perhaps living on this strange new planet wouldn’t be so bad after all.]
