[It’s just how he is Venom. A guy who tries his best to be as open and friendly to those around him as he can be.

Key word on the “tries” though. Even he had his limits occasionally.

Firmly shaking the other mans hand, his grin grrew all the wider.]

It’s understandable. After all, we’re all just starting to adjust to this new world as well as all the new people around us. But I think it’s because of that that we should try all the harder to get along. It’s a big and scary new world so we may as well bond as fellow refugees.

Oh! Maybe we can get drinks or something once everything has settled down a little.

[And already he’s trying to set up hang-out dates.]

[ Charles chuckles softly. ]

Eventful is a kind way of putting it. I've done a lot of absurd things in my life, but losing a world to find a new one is certainly up there. Honestly, I don't know where to start here.

I guess it would be pretty hard to adjust huh? I mean, I can’t believe it would be an easy transition for anyone no matter how similar your world may be or how long you may stay here. You spend your entire life living one way only to be uprooted. It’s tough.

[Truthfully Phoenix’s life had always been fairly mundane. He lived in the same city for as long as he could remember. So moving to an entirely new world was like a punch to the gut.

None the less he was trying his best to keep his composure about it all.]

Have you managed to get yourself settled in terms of living at least? Like, housing and a job and whatnot?

[ Charles' expression softens. He's an expressive person, even if it's clear there are hidden depths. He is easily touched by the plight of others and easily moved to comfort and care. Ten years ago, that had been his Achilles' heel, wrecked asunder by his sister and his friend. Now he tries to tap into it as a source of strength. ]

I do not think it is an easy transition for anyone. Or will ever be. But at least it is a transition that puts us all in the same page. No matter where we come from, what we did, at least we can push forward together.

I manage. Though it is difficult in a magical world without proper roads sometimes.

[ Charles taps his knees in amusement. ]

So I don't get out much. But I have decent work at the Institute and I hope to accumulate as much information as I can.

[He wasn't blushing at all. It was an acute type of sunburn. Yes, that's what it was. Nothing more than that.

Oh god, he was staring at him. Stop looking at him with that sly smirk. Miles's shoulders stiffened.]

I hadn't noticed.

[No the beach was a place one could relax and read a good book. It wasn't as if the general nudity was what had him bothered as much. It was the implication that he was looking at his friend in a not so casual way. Oh god, he just wanted to flee.

Maybe... He could just make a run for it. He looked down the way to see if there was a way to be able to make an exit.]

[In return Charles’s calm response was enough to quell the mild anxiety building in Phoenix. To help each other all through this as equals huh? What a nice way to handle the situation. You truly are a good man professor.]

I agree. These may be though times but at least we are not alone in all this. Despite the different worlds we are from we are all sharing this experience together.

So, an institute huh? I suppose that’s fairly appropriate. I wonder if they have any law firms down there. Although I feel like I’d need to go through college all over again just to process and understand the unique law system the country were going to has. It’s probably entirely different from anything I’ve studied.

[Darn his location sensitive career choice!]

[ Clearly we need a new Japanifornia. ]

Perhaps you could start with creating a law firm. Or proposing laws, if you're familiar. They're bound to need improvements and your specific level of expertise could make things easier for any other arrivals. Not to mention, ourselves, with our own mixture of laws. Something universal that we can all abide by.

[Because that is not what your bright red face is telling him Miles. Oh no, just the opposite in fact.]

And yet you noticed me in my bright pink bathingsuit and how tight it is right away.

[How mighty suspicious of you MIles Edgeworth. Is there something you need to tell him?]

[And Venom doesn't expect Phoenix to be so welcoming and friendly right off the bat. Isn't that supposed to be Venom's job? Making sure the new people are welcomed in to their new home?]

[He sputtered and unsurprisingly turned a deeper shade of crimson. He almost matched his red board shorts at this point. How on earth did he turn this around on him?

Maybe he can sink into the sand entirely. He could die of embarrassment.

Ah yes, if only it were that easy. I’d be a refugee, and one who’s new and barely knows anything about the laws and political processes behind them. It would take me ages to study everything up from scratch in a new land that I’m sure has cultural differences that far exceeds the world I’m from.

[That is, if those VRChambers he experienced earlier had anything to say about it.]

And I could only imagine the push back I’d get as some attorney from another land coming in to ‘fix’ their court system.

[He sighed and lowered his head with that.]

No. If anything I’m probably best off taking the hard road and finding a side job to hold me over while I try to adjust to this new country.

Even if I have no idea what it is I’m going to do exactly.

[Should he take up art again? If anything he can always go back to professional gambling. That’s a legit way to earn an income.]

[ Charles frowns, worried. The man's thoughts were clearly quite frustrated in the position he's in. ]

Even so, I still think we — us immigrants — could use someone willing to fight for us, especially in a strange place. We can't bulldoze our way through. While I'm sure you have skills to at least help us reach a better accord.

Oh a bartender are you?

[And immediately do you manage to capture Phoenix’s interests. He could never turn down a friend who’s willing to serve up a good drink. And how could he when he’s a man of such distinguished tastes in beverages?]

I suppose I know where to set my new nightly hangout. Especially on the nights you’re working.

[Did that sound flirty? He certainly didn’t mean it to.]

Speaking of I suppose I really have to start thinking of means of income huh? Pretty sure my law degree won’t roll over to this new land.

[Venom likes to think he can mix drinks decently, but there's always room for improvement.]

I will say it's a good place to start over, or at least put your knowledge to new uses.

This-- This was kind of fun. There was just something about getting Miles all upset that was almost impossible to resist. Was his childhood friend blushing? It certainly looked like he was. Either that or this was the nastiest case of sunburn ever.

But before he could even make any witty commentary on the matter-- there Miles went. Speed walking away as fast as he could.]

[You can't run away from your shame that easily Miles! Now Phoenix is only chasing after you, tight pink bathing suit only emphasizing things more as he ran.]

Miles! Hey Miles! Come back!

[Nope nope nope. Nope Nope nope nope. He was speedwalking away as fast as not to attract too much-unneeded attention. This whole thing was a disaster and he was choosing to abort this mission. Mistakes were made. He knew when to retreat.

Keep moving forward and don't look back. He couldn't even face Phoenix while he was wearing that ridiculously tight speedo.

Was he in the clear?

Perhaps one over the shoulder glance couldn't hurt.

He looked back and it was there that he made his second mistake. Sure enough, Wright was chasing after him and all of his stuffed glory was jostling unfortunately along with him.]

[Why did he look back?! This was the same mistake Orpheus made in myths of old. All the stories said not to.

Maybe if he just hopped over the small boardwalk and onto the beach itself, he can make a run for the ocean. Did Phoenix swim? He couldn't remember.

That crotch was definitely seared permanently into his mind's eye.]

Ah, that’s a fairly reassuring thought.

[Phoenix’s expression seemed to have softened a little. His stress over the thought seeming to dissipate as he listened to Charles’s words.

Yes, it would take time, and a lot of trial and error, but it wasn’t his first time being thrown into an entirely new legal system now was it?]

A representative for the people who immigrated here. It seems doable. Although it would still require some time and research. I can also start off with a bit of a learning curve.

[Right then! He was most definitely feeling less anxious about starting his life in this new world! First thing he had to do was gain some starter revenue, get some office space and then he would be good to go!]

All right then Charles.

[He extended his hand out to the other man, his eyes sparkling with a new found enthusiasm at the prospect of launching into this new world.]

Hope you don’t mind guiding me through this. It’s my first time teleporting after all.

It isn’t anything like flying is it?

[ Charles takes it warmly. He's relieved to notice the stressful edge slowly coming off. ]

It is nothing like flying.

Ah, I would truthfully love to take up my full time career again. But I feel in order to do so I would need to aquire some sort of starter income.

[But considering where his past job experience lay, he wasn’t exactly sure where to start.

Should he take up art again? Or should he start off taking on odd jobs and then put his previous experience as a professional poker player to use?

He could feel Miles’s glare from a mile away upon having that thought.

It was a good way to make money but he was almost certain his childhood friend wouldn’t approve.]

You wouldn’t happen to know if they have any open job positions would you?

[He may as well at least ask.]

My workplace is always searching for bar staff and models.

[And by models he means escorts. It's not for everyone, but he figures he should mention it.]

Or you could try for the city guard or even the Institute. They specialize in magic and research. Other than that, it's mostly odd jobs from the locals.

[Oh now this was most certainly wonderful. In fact, he hadn’t had this much fun in ages. Who would have guessed that forever scarring the prude mind of his best friend could be so invigorating?

And that noise— What sort of stupid sound was that? Sure he was being kind of a bully right now, but he finally had Miles taking the retreat!

Miles! Where are you going!? We didn’t finish our conversation!!

[Flailing his arms to wave Miles down, Phoenix Wright was most certainly trying his best to make a scene.

You can’t run forever Miles. Eventually you’ll either run out of stamina or head straight into water.]

Ah. That’s a relief.

[Phoenix sighed out, the reassurance definitely seeming to make him feel a little better. Of course with it came the awkward blush which formed almost naturally upon taking someone’s hand.

So this was mandatory huh? How oddly intimate. But he could imagine it helped make a good conversation starter between all those new to El Nysa.

Perhaps Dharma intended that on purpose?]

Always been a little uncomfortable with flying.

Well, heights mainly.

Although being in the station has surprisingly not bothered me too much.

[Well, save for how surreal the entire concept of being in a space station actually was.]

Mmm. I've flown a few times.

[ He had a private jet after all. ]

It gets easier, the more often you try it.

A research institute or the guard huh? Sadly I don’t think I have much experience in either of those things for me to land a job with them.

[Besides tackling a person once or twice in his life he never once even hurt a fly. And as much as he would like to consider himself an intellectual, Phoenix’s forte specified much more in legal affairs than they ever did with anything science related.]

And at my age and with my physique I very much doubt I’d make much of a good model.

[Although why they would need a model in a bar is beyond him.]

I have had previous service experience, but it was mainly in entertainment.

Entertainment? Perhaps you can come by my workplace and talk to them about that. They might be able to find you something.

[He's not sure what kind of entertainment Nick has under his belt, but he's going to need a job.]

You could be a model, but again, it's not for everyone.
